A Glimpse into History
Hovk is a village located in Dilijan municipality, in Tavush province, Armenia. This village bears a history marked by significant events, notably in 1988–1989, when Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan, particularly from the villages of Getashen, Shamkhor and Martunashen (today Qarabulaq), settled in Hovk. Originally known as Haqqikhli, the village was renamed in 1978 in honor of Azerbaijani poet and playwright Samed Vurghun (1906–1956), a Lenin Prize laureate. However, following Armenia's independence on April 3, 1991, the village reclaimed its original name, Hovk, by decision of Armenia's Supreme Council.
