Day-by-day itinerary

Ascent of Mount Ara
After breakfast, transfer to the slopes of Mount Ara, approximately thirty kilometers north of Yerevan. This is where we begin our first ski touring. Approximately 1000 meters of elevation gain separate us from the summit, which peaks at 2577 meters altitude and offers breathtaking views over the plain and surrounding mountains, including the famous Ararat and Aragats mountains.
Hiking distance: 5 to 6 km
Duration: 6 hours
Initial altitude: 1500 m
Mount Ara summit: 2577 m

The Tsaghkuniats Range
Today we take our skis to the slopes of Mont Tsaghkuniats. Our hike begins at 1600 meters altitude on the slopes of a mountain that peaks at over 2800 meters. Mont Tegenis is an alternative depending on snow conditions and does not change the difficulty of the route. What a joy to explore these trails so rarely traveled amid wonderful landscapes!
(Note: possibility of taking a chairlift at Tegenis ski station for an additional fee.)
Hiking distance: 7 to 8 km
Duration: 6 hours
Initial altitude: 1600 m
Summit of Mont Tsaghkuniats: 2821 m
Summit of Mont Tegenis: 2881 m
Return, dinner and overnight in Aghveran.

Mount Hatis
This morning we take the road along the slopes of Mount Hatis, an extinct volcano in the Kotayk region peaking at 2528 meters. In a landscape of alpine meadows dotted with ravines, we are rewarded for our efforts with spectacular views of Mount Ararat, Aragats and Ara, as well as the Geghama mountain range.
Hiking distance: 6 km
Duration: 5 hours
Initial altitude: 1500 m
Summit of Mount Hatis: 2528 m
Return, dinner and overnight in Aghveran.

Pambak Range and arrival in Dilijan
We definitively leave the pretty Aghveran resort and explore by ski the Pambak range a little further north. Several low-lying peaks are possible, in a rugged landscape of great beauty that is increasingly popular with skiers, hikers and other lovers of wide open spaces.
Hiking distance: 7 to 8 km
Duration: 5 to 6 hours
Pambak range: 1000-1300 m
Arrival in late afternoon at Dilidjan. Dinner and overnight.

Temple, Monastery and Snowshoe Walk
We head south towards the Geghama Mountains region. Not far southeast of Yerevan, Garni is home, in a remarkable geographical setting, to the only remaining vestige of the Hellenistic era surviving in Arménie: the Temple of Garni, a pagan temple dedicated to the Sun god.
A few kilometers further on, Geghard, at the entrance to the Upper Azat Valley, is a monastery composed of several churches and cross-stones, world-renowned as it is largely troglodytic, and marking the golden age of Armenian medieval architecture. The Geghard Monastery was a major cultural and ecclesiastical center and many relics of the Armenian Apostolic Church are preserved there.
Depending on timing and preferences, we can hike in snowshoes from Geghard on the Geghama Mountains plateau.
Hiking distance: 5 to 6 km
Duration: 3 hours
Geghard: 1710 m
Geghama Mountains plateau: 2100 m
